Description
The Arducam Auto Focus Camera Module is a specialized embedded vision component featuring a 5-megapixel OV5647 CMOS sensor paired with a motorized focus mechanism. Unlike fixed-focus modules, it allows developers to programmatically adjust the lens focus distance via simple UP/DOWN keyboard commands or direct GPIO control, providing dynamic focus from 80mm to infinity. This capability is essential for applications requiring variable working distances or high-magnification detail.
Designed for seamless integration with the Raspberry Pi camera interface (compatible with Pi 4, 3B+, and 3), it also supports a wide range of embedded platforms including ARM-based SBCs, microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs. The module outputs a standard MIPI CSI-2 video stream, making it compatible with popular vision libraries like OpenCV and Picamera2. Its compact form factor and software-driven focus make it an ideal upgrade for robotics, automated inspection, and smart IoT devices where environmental conditions or target distances vary.
