Description
The VGA666 Dtoverlays Module, also known as the Gert-VGA-adapter, provides a cost-effective solution for connecting your Raspberry Pi to VGA-only monitors. Unlike traditional digital-to-analog HDMI-to-VGA converters that can be expensive and power-hungry, this passive adapter leverages the Raspberry Pi’s DPI (Display Parallel Interface) to deliver native VGA output.
This module supports video resolutions from 640×480 up to 1920×1024 at 60fps, offering 262,144 colors (6 bits per channel). A key advantage is its ability to drive a VGA display independently, and potentially simultaneously with the HDMI output (with ongoing software development). However, users should note that the VGA666 module utilizes a significant number of GPIO pins, which will limit their availability for other peripherals.
