The Pimoroni LiPo/LiIon Power Supply SHIM addresses the challenge of providing a discrete and efficient power solution for mobile Raspberry Pi projects. Its ultra-compact, 0.8mm thick PCB is engineered to sit as low as possible on the Raspberry Pi’s GPIO header, offering a choice between direct soldering for a permanent, space-saving setup or using the included 2×6 female header for a removable connection.
At its core, the SHIM utilizes the Texas Instruments TPS61232 step-up boost converter, renowned for its impressive efficiency of up to 96%. This ensures reliable power delivery for demanding applications, supplying up to 1.5A of continuous current. Essential features include integrated power-on and low battery indicator LEDs, along with a quiescent current of just 15µA during shutdown. For advanced integration, VBAT+, GND, and EN pins are broken out, allowing for alternative power injection methods or external control over the power output.
