Description
The Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ M Key acts as a crucial mechanical adapter, converting the Pi 5’s 16-pin FPC PCIe 2.0 connector to a subset of the M.2 standard. This allows direct connection of M.2 M key devices, including high-performance NVMe Solid State Drives, significantly expanding the Raspberry Pi 5’s storage and I/O capabilities. It is engineered to supply up to 3A to connected M.2 devices, ensuring stable operation for power-hungry peripherals.
Conforming to the latest Raspberry Pi HAT+ specification, this M.2 HAT+ is automatically detected by the Raspberry Pi’s software and firmware, ensuring a plug-and-play experience. The standard variant is supplied with a 16mm stacking header and threaded spacers, accommodating the Raspberry Pi Active Cooler. A compact version also exists, optimized for the official Raspberry Pi Case for Pi 5, supporting 2230 form factor M.2 M key peripherals while allowing space for the case’s integrated cooling fan.
