The Adafruit Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE is a versatile development board designed for portable microcontroller applications. It combines the popular ATmega32u4 microcontroller, known for its Arduino compatibility and native USB capabilities, with an integrated Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) module. This ‘all-in-one’ design provides a robust platform for projects requiring both computational power and modern wireless connectivity.
The integrated Bluetooth Low Energy module operates on the 2.4GHz spectrum, enabling direct wireless communication with iOS and Android smartphones, as well as Mac OS X and Windows 8+ devices, without requiring special certification. The ATmega32u4 features 32KB of flash memory and 2KB of SRAM, alongside built-in USB functionality that supports both serial debugging and advanced Human Interface Device (HID) modes, allowing the Feather to act as a mouse, keyboard, or MIDI device.
For truly portable applications, the Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE includes a connector for 3.7V Lithium polymer batteries and an integrated battery charging circuit. This allows the board to run autonomously and recharge when connected via its micro USB port, automatically switching to USB power when available. A dedicated analog pin also provides real-time battery voltage monitoring, ensuring reliable power management for your on-the-go projects.
