Description

The Adafruit Feather RP2040 brings the high-performance Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller to the compact, breadboard-friendly Feather form factor. This board is engineered for developers and makers seeking a robust yet portable platform for a wide range of embedded projects. It combines the RP2040’s dual ARM Cortex-M0+ cores, clocked at 133 MHz, with 264KB of on-chip SRAM, providing significant processing power for real-time applications. An additional 8MB of SPI Flash offers generous space for CircuitPython, MicroPython, or C/C++ firmware, ensuring ample room for complex code and data storage.

Peripheral connectivity is comprehensive, featuring 21 multi-function GPIO pins, including 4 x 12-bit ADCs, two I2C, two SPI, and two UART interfaces. The board also includes a convenient STEMMA QT / Qwiic connector for effortless integration with a vast ecosystem of sensors and peripherals, along with a NeoPixel RGB LED and a status LED. A crucial feature for portable applications is the integrated LiPo battery charging circuit via the USB-C port. The RP2040’s unique Programmable I/O (PIO) state machines enable custom hardware logic for high-speed, timing-critical tasks like controlling NeoPixels, I2S audio, or LED matrices, offloading the CPU and enhancing performance.
