The Spectra Symbol Flex Sensor operates on a simple resistive principle. A conductive ink pattern is printed on a flexible polymer substrate; as the sensor bends, the conductive path elongates and narrows, causing a measurable increase in electrical resistance proportional to the bend radius. This analog resistance change can be read via a voltage divider circuit connected to any microcontroller’s ADC input.
Designed for durability, the sensor withstands over one million flex cycles, making it suitable for repetitive motion tracking. Its ultra-thin 0.43mm construction and sensitive 80mm active sensing area allow for precise detection of angular displacement, while the rigid base with integrated male pins protects the electrical connections and provides a secure mounting point. Care must be taken to bend only the active sensing area to prevent damage.
