The SparkFun QRE1113 Analog Breakout utilizes an infrared reflectance sensing principle. The onboard IR LED emits light, which is reflected by a surface and detected by the co-located phototransistor. The module’s analog output pin provides a voltage that decreases as the amount of reflected IR light increases, enabling precise grayscale or line detection.
Designed for easy integration, the breakout includes all necessary current-limiting and pull-up resistors. The output can be read directly by any microcontroller ADC pin, making it suitable for real-time feedback in autonomous robotics, edge detection, and material discrimination applications.
