This sensor has a PNP (sourcing) output. Connect the brown wire to your DC power supply positive (typically 10-30V DC), the blue wire to the negative/common, and the black wire is the switched positive output. The output switches to the supply voltage when an object is detected, suitable for connecting to PLCs or controllers with sinking digital inputs.

While capacitive sensors are primarily designed for non-metallic materials like plastics, liquids, and wood, they can detect conductive objects. However, the sensing distance may vary significantly, and for reliable metal detection, an inductive proximity sensor is generally recommended. The sensitivity adjustment on this unit can help tune for different materials.

The sensitivity adjustment potentiometer allows you to fine-tune the sensor's detection threshold. This is crucial for optimizing performance with different target materials (e.g., thick plastic vs. thin film), adjusting for environmental factors, or ignoring background objects. Turn clockwise to increase sensitivity and counter-clockwise to decrease it until the desired detection behavior is achieved.

The sensor is designed for a standard DC supply voltage range of 10-30V DC. It includes built-in reverse polarity protection, but correct wiring is essential for proper operation and longevity. Ensure your power supply matches this range and can provide the necessary current, typically under 200mA.

The sensor features an M30 x 1.5mm metric thread along its barrel. Simply drill a corresponding M30 clearance hole in your mounting panel or bracket and use the supplied CubePilot nut to secure it from the backside. Ensure the sensing face is flush with or slightly protruding from the mounting surface for optimal detection range.
