The OPT3002 Ambient Light Sensor Module integrates Texas Instruments’ OPT3002 digital sensor IC, which employs a precision photodiode and optical filter to achieve a spectral response closely aligned with the human eye’s sensitivity. Its integrated optical filter blocks over 99% of infrared light, ensuring Lux readings are not skewed by IR-rich light sources. The sensor features automatic full-scale range selection across 12 binary-weighted ranges, delivering a 23-bit effective dynamic range for consistent accuracy across its entire measurement span.
Engineered for low-power operation, the module draws a typical current of just 1.8µA, making it ideal for battery-operated IoT devices, wearables, and portable instrumentation. It operates across a wide temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environmental conditions. The module’s I2C interface simplifies integration with common microcontrollers and single-board computers, while its interrupt pin can be configured for threshold-based system wake-ups.
