This water level sensor operates on the principle of conductive trace sensing. A series of parallel exposed traces on the PCB act as a variable resistor; as water bridges these traces, the electrical resistance between them changes. This change in resistance is converted into a variable analog voltage output by the onboard circuitry, which can be read by an Arduino’s ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) pin.
The module is designed for low-voltage operation, compatible with common 3.3V and 5V logic systems. Its compact form factor and simple three-wire interface (VCC, GND, Signal) make it suitable for integration into educational projects, simple tank level monitors, and leak detection systems within its specified operating temperature range.
