Asair DHT11 Digital Temperature and Humidity Sensor - Single-Wire Serial Data

The DHT11 operates from 3.0V to 5.5V DC. It is compatible with both 3.3V and 5V logic systems commonly found on Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi boards. Ensure your power supply is stable for accurate readings.

The DHT11 uses a proprietary single-wire serial protocol. Communication is initiated by the host MCU pulling the data line low for at least 18ms, then reading a 40-bit data packet containing humidity and temperature values. Using a dedicated library (e.g., DHTlib for Arduino) is highly recommended for reliable timing.

The DHT11 requires a sampling period of at least 2 seconds between consecutive readings. Polling the sensor more frequently may result in errors or unstable data. The sensor also needs a startup time of 1-2 seconds after power-on to stabilize.

The DHT11 is primarily designed for indoor environmental monitoring. Its operating temperature range is 0°C to 50°C, and it is not waterproof. For outdoor use, consider a sensor with a wider temperature range, higher accuracy, and proper environmental sealing (e.g., IP67 enclosure).
