CJMCU-96 MCP9600 Thermocouple Converter Module - I2C Interface, 8 Thermocouple Types
The CJMCU-96 MCP9600 Thermocouple Converter Module is a high-precision, fully integrated thermocouple-to-digital converter with cold junction compensation, supporting eight thermocouple types (K, J, T, N, S, E, B, R) per NIST ITS-90 standards. It communicates via I2C interface, making it compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other 3.3V/5V microcontroller platforms for industrial and laboratory temperature sensing applications.
Features
- Supports eight thermocouple types: K, J, T, N, S, E, B, R (NIST ITS-90 compliant).
- High-precision measurement with ±1.5 °C max error and 0.0625 °C resolution.
- Integrated cold junction compensation for accurate ambient temperature referencing.
- I2C interface (100 kHz) with up to eight addressable devices per bus.
- Low-power operation (500 μA typical) with programmable filters and four temperature alarms.

The CJMCU-96 module integrates the Microchip Technology MCP9600 IC, a complete thermocouple signal conditioner and analog-to-digital converter. It performs cold junction compensation internally using an onboard temperature sensor, eliminating the need for external reference junctions and ensuring accurate readings across the full –40 °C to +125 °C operating range. The device digitizes the thermocouple’s millivolt output with high resolution and linearity.
Designed for system flexibility, the module features programmable digital filtering to suppress noise in electrically noisy environments, such as industrial control panels or motor drives. Its I2C communication protocol allows for easy daisy-chaining of multiple sensors, while four configurable alarm outputs can trigger interrupts or control external systems based on user-defined temperature thresholds. The wide 2.7V to 5.5V supply range ensures compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V logic systems.
