The KSD9700/BK05-BB1D is a bimetallic disc-type thermal protector housed in a metallic shell. It operates on a snap-action principle: when the ambient temperature around its sensing head reaches the calibrated 50°C setpoint, the internal bimetallic disc deflects, mechanically opening the normally closed contacts to break the circuit. This action provides a failsafe, one-time or automatic-reset (depending on variant) interruption to protect equipment like transformers, motors, heaters, and power supplies from thermal damage.
Its metallic housing ensures efficient heat transfer from the protected component to the internal bimetallic element, offering a fast response. The device is designed for direct series connection in the load or coil circuit, requiring no external power or signal conditioning. With a 10A current rating, it is capable of handling significant inductive or resistive loads commonly found in industrial and consumer appliance applications.
