KSD9700/BK05-BB1D Metallic Shell Temperature Control Switch - 55°C Normally Open, 5A 250V
The KSD9700/BK05-BB1D is a metallic-shell, snap-action thermal cutoff switch rated for 5A at 250V AC/DC, designed to open its contacts at a calibrated 55°C setpoint. This normally-open (NO) thermal protector is ideal for integration into appliances, power supplies, and motor controls to provide reliable over-temperature protection.
Features
- Metallic shell construction for robust thermal conduction and durability.
- Normally Open (NO) contacts snap open at a fixed 55°C (±5°C) temperature setpoint.
- Rated for 5A resistive load at 250V AC/DC, suitable for mains-powered applications.
- Manual reset requires cooling below the reset temperature after trip.
- Compact design with 7cm lead wires for easy series connection in a circuit.

The KSD9700/BK05-BB1D is a bimetallic snap-action thermal cutoff switch. Its core mechanism uses a bimetallic disc housed within a metallic shell. When the ambient temperature reaches the calibrated trip point (55°C), the disc snaps and physically opens the electrical contacts, breaking the circuit to prevent overheating. The switch remains open until it cools sufficiently, at which point it resets manually.
This switch is designed for direct series installation in the live or neutral line of AC/DC circuits. The metallic shell ensures rapid thermal response and acts as a heat sink, while the insulated leads provide safe termination points. It is a cost-effective, single-use protection device commonly employed as a primary safety cut-off in consumer electronics, transformers, and small motor windings.
