The TONYU DY-FPD204-6B ambient light sensor is a photometric component engineered to measure the intensity of visible light in its environment. Its design incorporates a photodiode with a spectral sensitivity curve that closely matches the human eye’s photopic response, ensuring that brightness adjustments feel natural and accurate. An integrated infrared filter enhances performance by rejecting unwanted IR radiation, which is common in indoor lighting.
This sensor outputs an analog signal proportional to the incident light intensity, which can be read directly by an ADC pin on microcontrollers like Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi. Its ultra-compact 3mm plugin form factor and low-profile design make it ideal for space-constrained applications such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, automotive dashboards, and smart home control panels where automatic display dimming is required for power savings and user comfort.
