The VEML7700 Ambient Light Sensor Module integrates the VEML7700 high-performance ALS (Ambient Light Sensor) IC, which uses a photodiode and advanced signal conditioning to deliver precise illuminance readings. The sensor’s 16-bit ADC provides a resolution of 0.0036 lux/count, enabling sensitive detection across a broad 0–120,000 lux range, suitable for everything from dim indoor lighting to direct sunlight.
Communication is handled via a standard I2C serial interface, with a fixed slave address of 0x10, allowing for straightforward daisy-chaining in multi-sensor systems. The module includes an onboard voltage regulator, accepting a 3.3V to 5V DC input and providing a stable 3.3V supply to the sensor IC, ensuring reliable operation across common embedded platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and industrial PLCs with I2C capability.
