DFRobot Gravity Analog CO/Combustible Gas Sensor MQ9 Module
The DFRobot Gravity MQ9 is an analog semiconductor gas sensor module designed for Arduino and other 5V microcontroller platforms. It detects Carbon Monoxide (CO) and combustible gases like Methane and Propane, providing a voltage output proportional to gas concentration for easy integration into air quality monitoring and safety systems.
Features
- Detects Carbon Monoxide (10-1000ppm) and combustible gases (100-10000ppm)
- 5V DC power supply with simple analog voltage output interface
- Dual-temperature cycle operation for selective gas detection and sensor cleaning
- Integrated potentiometer for on-board sensitivity adjustment
- Gravity-series connector for plug-and-play compatibility with DFRobot shields

The DFRobot Gravity MQ9 module utilizes a tin dioxide (SnO2) semiconductor sensing element. Its conductivity changes in the presence of target gases. The module employs a dual-heating cycle: a low-temperature phase (1.5V heater) optimizes sensitivity to Carbon Monoxide, while a high-temperature phase (5.0V heater) detects combustible gases like Methane and Propane and cleans the sensor of residues. This design enhances selectivity and sensor longevity.
The module outputs an analog voltage signal that varies linearly with gas concentration, which can be read directly by any microcontroller with an ADC input, such as Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi (with an ADC board). The onboard potentiometer allows for calibration and sensitivity tuning to suit specific environmental conditions and detection thresholds.
