This sensor features a 3-wire PNP (sourcing) output configured as Normally Closed (NC). In the resting state (no target present), the output transistor is ON, providing a path to positive voltage. When a metal target enters the 10mm detection zone, the output switches OFF. This configuration is directly compatible with common PLC DC input modules and control circuits.

Inductive proximity sensors like the CLJ-C30-10APB are primarily designed to detect ferrous metals (like steel and iron) with the specified 10mm range. They can also detect non-ferrous metals (like aluminum and copper), but the effective sensing distance will be reduced, typically by 30-60%, depending on the specific metal's conductivity and permeability.

Connect the brown wire to your DC positive supply (typically +12V to +24V), the blue wire to the DC common (0V), and the black wire to your load (e.g., PLC input). The load is then connected back to 0V. The black wire will source current to the load when the sensor is in its resting NC state. Always ensure power polarity is correct to activate the built-in protection features.

The integrated red LED provides visual status feedback. It illuminates when the sensor's output is active (in the NC state with no target detected) and turns off when a target is within range and the output switches.
