SICK GL10-P4211 Photoelectric Retro-Reflective Sensor, 0.15m~10m, PNP, M12

The SICK GL10-P4211 has a reliable, calibrated operating range of 0.15 to 10 meters. The 15-meter figure represents the maximum possible detection distance under ideal conditions (perfect reflector alignment, clean environment), but for consistent performance in industrial applications, the 10-meter range is specified.

The PNP output is a sourcing output. Connect the sensor's brown wire (+V) to your 10-30V DC supply positive, the blue wire to the supply negative (0V). The black wire is the PNP output signal. Connect the black wire to your PLC's digital input terminal, and connect that same input terminal to the DC supply negative (0V) to complete the circuit. The output switches the signal line to positive voltage when an object is detected.

For guaranteed performance up to the specified 10-meter range, it is strongly recommended to use the dedicated SICK reflector designed for the G10 series. While high-quality retro-reflective tape may work at shorter distances, the sensor's optics and light source are calibrated for optimal performance with the official reflector, ensuring reliable detection and immunity to ambient light interference.

The 4-pin M12 connector provides a robust, industry-standard connection that is resistant to vibration and environmental contaminants. You will need a standard 4-pin M12 male to flying lead or male to female extension cable, wired according to the sensor's pinout (typically: Pin 1 - +V Brown, Pin 2 - Output Black, Pin 3 - N/C, Pin 4 - 0V Blue).
