Winsen MP-4 CH4 Methane Gas Sensor Metal Cap - 24V Heater
The Winsen MP-4 is a planar metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensor for detecting methane (CH4) and natural gas, featuring a metal cap encapsulation. It operates with a 24V loop voltage and a 5V heater, providing a simple resistive output signal proportional to gas concentration for integration into safety alarms and monitoring systems.
Features
- Planar MOS sensor for CH4 and natural gas detection (300–10000 ppm range)
- Low-power heater consumption (≤350mW at 5V±0.1V)
- Metal cap encapsulation for durability and stable performance
- Fast response and recovery times for real-time monitoring
- Simple interface via sensitive resistance output (1KΩ–20KΩ)

The Winsen MP-4 utilizes a planar metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensing element constructed on a subminiature Al2O3 ceramic plate. When methane or natural gas is present, the sensor’s conductivity increases proportionally with the gas concentration. This change in conductivity, measured as a variable resistance, can be easily conditioned by a simple external circuit to produce a corresponding analog output signal.
Designed for long-term reliability, the sensor features a metal base and cap encapsulation, providing excellent stability over a 10-year operational life. It operates within a controlled environment of 20°C±2°C and 55%±5% RH for optimal baseline performance, making it suitable for integration into fixed gas detection systems and safety alarms.
