MQ-135 Air Quality & Gas Detector Sensor Module for Arduino - Analog & TTL Output
The MQ-135 is a semiconductor gas sensor module designed for detecting a broad range of harmful gases and air quality contaminants, including ammonia, benzene, and smoke. It provides both analog (0-5V) and digital TTL output signals for easy integration with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other 5V microcontroller platforms.
Features
- Broad-spectrum detection of ammonia, benzene, sulphide, alcohol, and smoke
- Analog voltage output (0-5V) proportional to gas concentration
- Digital TTL output signal with adjustable sensitivity threshold
- On-board signal conditioning and power indicator LED
- Compact module format with standard 2.54mm pin spacing

The MQ-135 gas sensor operates on a metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) principle, where its conductivity changes in the presence of target combustible or harmful gases. This change is converted into a corresponding analog output voltage, which increases linearly with gas concentration. The module includes a comparator circuit for generating a digital TTL-level signal when a user-adjustable threshold is exceeded.
Designed for general-purpose air quality monitoring, the sensor requires a brief pre-heating period for stable operation. It is suitable for prototyping and integration into environmental monitoring systems, safety alarms, and indoor air quality assessments, operating within a typical detection range of 100-1000 ppm for various gases.
