Raindrop Detection Sensor Module - Digital & Analog Output
This rain detection sensor module provides both digital and analog outputs for monitoring rainfall intensity and water presence. Compatible with 3.3V/5V logic systems like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32, it features an adjustable sensitivity potentiometer and a separate rain collection board for flexible installation.
Features
- Provides both digital (TTL) and analog voltage output signals.
- Adjustable sensitivity via on-board potentiometer.
- Based on the LM393 wide-voltage comparator for stable operation.
- Separate rain collection PCB and control board for installation flexibility.
- Compatible with 3.3V and 5V microcontroller systems (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi).

This sensor module detects raindrops and measures rainfall intensity by monitoring changes in electrical resistance across its exposed PCB traces. The separate collection board, treated with nickel plating for oxidation resistance, gathers water. As water bridges the parallel traces, resistance decreases, which is measured by the LM393 comparator on the control board.
The module outputs a clean digital signal (high/low) and a proportional analog voltage (AO). The analog output voltage inversely correlates with water coverage: a dry board outputs ~5V, while increased water presence lowers the voltage. This allows for both simple threshold detection and quantitative intensity measurement, making it suitable for various weather monitoring and automation applications.
