Description
The Waveshare Raspberry Pi Camera Module (D) is an embedded vision sensor built around the 1/4-inch Sony OV5647 5-megapixel CMOS sensor. It connects directly to the Raspberry Pi’s Camera Serial Interface (CSI) via a supplied 15-pin flat flex cable (FFC) with contacts on opposite sides. This module is engineered for developers and makers requiring a reliable, low-power camera for computer vision, surveillance, or telepresence projects on the Raspberry Pi platform.
With the shift to the libcamera software stack in Raspberry Pi OS Bullseye, this camera leverages an open-source, vendor-neutral camera framework that simplifies porting and custom driver development. The fixed-focus lens assembly provides a consistent focal plane, making it suitable for applications where subject distance is relatively stable. Its compact form factor and standard CSI-2 interface ensure easy integration into custom enclosures and existing Raspberry Pi HAT ecosystems.
