The D456 is fully compatible with the Intel Intel RealSense SDK 2.0 (librealsense), which provides cross-platform support for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Developers can use the SDK's APIs in C++, C#, Python, or Java to capture depth streams, access IMU data, and implement computer vision algorithms. The SDK includes tools for camera calibration, point cloud generation, and alignment of depth with RGB data, streamlining integration into robotics or vision systems.

The IP65 rating indicates complete protection against dust ingress and resistance to low-pressure water jets from any direction. This allows the D456 to be deployed in outdoor or industrial environments where it may be exposed to rain, dust, or splashing water without requiring an additional protective enclosure. The integrated Bosch BMI085 IMU provides accelerometer and gyroscope data, which is fused with the visual depth data from the global shutter sensors. A single cable provides both power and data transfer, simplifying system integration.
