Description

The HC-06 Bluetooth module is a foundational component for adding wireless serial communication to embedded systems and DIY electronics. It implements the Bluetooth 2.0 specification with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) on the proven CSR BC04 transceiver, operating as a dedicated slave device. This means it cannot initiate connections but awaits pairing from a master, making it ideal for creating wireless sensors, data loggers, or remote control interfaces that communicate with a central host.

Power management is handled by an integrated 3.3V low-dropout regulator, accepting a wide input range from 3.6V to 6V DC, which simplifies power supply design. The module’s current consumption is modest, drawing approximately 30-40mA during the pairing process and dropping to around 8-10mA during active data communication. Its compact form factor (27mm x 13mm) houses a printed circuit board (PCB) antenna, providing a Class 2 power level with an effective open-space range of up to 10 meters.
