The LuckFox Pico Plus RV1103 development board offers a powerful and compact solution for embedded Linux applications, driven by the versatile Rockchip RV1103 system-on-chip. This SoC integrates a single-core ARM Cortex-A7 32-bit processor with NEON and FPU for general computing, alongside a dedicated RISC-V MCU for efficient low-power operations and rapid startup sequences. Its standout feature is the inclusion of specialized hardware accelerators: a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI inference and an Image Signal Processor (ISP) for advanced camera applications.
Designed for demanding multimedia and AI tasks, the onboard NPU, a Rockchip self-developed 4th generation unit, supports hybrid quantization (int4, int8, int16) and delivers up to 0.5 TOPS at int8 precision, scaling to 1.0 TOPS with int4, making it highly capable for edge AI. The integrated ISP3.2 supports up to 4-Megapixel resolution and incorporates advanced image enhancement algorithms like HDR, WDR, and multi-level noise reduction. Furthermore, its powerful encoding performance utilizes intelligent encoding modes to significantly reduce bitrate while maintaining high image quality, effectively doubling storage efficiency for camera streams.
Network connectivity is robustly handled by an integrated 10/100M Ethernet controller and embedded PHY, essential for networked IoT and industrial control applications. The board also features built-in 16-bit DRAM DDR2 to manage demanding memory bandwidths, along with integrated Power-On-Reset (POR) circuitry and an audio codec for comprehensive system integration. The RISC-V MCU’s ability to achieve “face recognition in one second” by simultaneously capturing images and loading AI models underscores the board’s efficiency for real-time applications.
