Description
The Generic GPIO UART HAT V1.0 is engineered to significantly enhance the peripheral connectivity of legacy Raspberry Pi models, specifically the 3B, 2B, and B+. This expansion board introduces reliable RS232 serial communication, which is crucial for interfacing with industrial equipment, legacy systems, and data acquisition devices. Its design leverages the SPI interface for efficient control of the RS232 port, ensuring stable and fast data transfer, making it an excellent choice for applications demanding robust and secure communication.
Beyond serial connectivity, the HAT provides substantial GPIO expansion with 16 independent pins, each offering 3.3V power and ground, enabling direct connection to a multitude of sensors, actuators, and custom circuits. It also integrates two independent SPI expansion interfaces and one I2C expansion interface, further broadening the possibilities for integrating various modules. An onboard infrared (IR) receiver allows for the implementation of remote control functionalities, adding convenience and versatility to embedded projects.
