Description
The Adafruit ItsyBitsy RP2040 brings the powerful Raspberry Pi RP2040 SoC into a highly compact development board, optimized for applications where space is a critical factor. It features a dual ARM Cortex-M0+ processor running at up to 133MHz, providing substantial processing power for complex embedded tasks. This board is outfitted with 264KB of on-chip SRAM and a generous 8MB of QSPI flash memory, offering ample resources for code, data logging, and file storage, making it a robust platform for demanding projects.
Despite its small 1.4″ x 0.7″ footprint, the ItsyBitsy RP2040 boasts extensive I/O capabilities. It provides 23 digital GPIO pins, including 4 analog inputs and 16 PWM outputs, facilitating diverse connections to sensors, actuators, and other peripherals. The board also includes standard interfaces such as UART, SPI, and I2C, along with a USB 1.1 controller for both host and device support, ensuring broad compatibility for various system integrations.
Programming the ItsyBitsy RP2040 is streamlined thanks to its permanent ROM USB UF2 bootloader. This feature allows for simple drag-and-drop firmware updates by presenting the board as a USB disk drive when connected while holding the BOOTSEL button. This familiar and user-friendly method supports development with CircuitPython, MicroPython, and the C/C++ SDK, enabling quick iteration and deployment for makers and engineers.
