Description

The W5100 R3 Ethernet & SD Shield empowers your Arduino board with essential network capabilities, allowing it to connect to the internet. Built around the reliable Wiznet W5100 Ethernet chip, this shield provides a hardware network (IP) stack supporting both TCP and UDP protocols, facilitating up to four concurrent socket connections. This integrated solution simplifies the development of web servers, IoT devices, and network-enabled projects using the familiar Arduino Ethernet library.

Designed with a stackable form factor and R3 pinout compatibility, the shield seamlessly integrates with various Arduino boards, preserving pin access for additional shields. It features a standard RJ-45 connection with an integrated line transformer and support for Power over Ethernet (PoE) via IEEE 802.3af, streamlining power delivery in network setups. An onboard micro-SD card slot further enhances functionality, enabling local storage for web content, data logs, or configuration files, accessible through the Arduino SD library (SS on Pin 4).

This shield also incorporates a dedicated reset controller to ensure proper initialization of the W5100 module upon power-up, resolving compatibility issues found in earlier revisions with boards like the Arduino Mega. Its robust design provides overload and short-circuit protection, alongside low output ripple and noise, ensuring stable and reliable operation for your networked Arduino applications.
