The StanBon STM40-16NC is a through-beam photoelectric safety sensor, commonly referred to as a light curtain. It operates on the principle of infrared beam interruption, where an array of synchronized transmitter and receiver pairs creates an invisible protective screen. When any single beam is broken, the unit’s control logic triggers a safety-rated output signal to halt connected machinery, ensuring personnel protection in accordance with safety standards like IEC 61496-1.
Engineered for industrial automation, the sensor features a durable housing capable of withstanding typical shop floor conditions, including vibration and airborne particulates. Its 12-24V DC operating range allows for direct connection to PLC safety inputs, relay modules, or dedicated safety controllers, facilitating seamless integration into both new and existing machine guarding systems.
