Description

The RAMPS 1.4 (RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield) is engineered to consolidate all necessary electronics for a RepRap 3D printer onto a single, cost-effective board. This shield seamlessly interfaces with the powerful Arduino MEGA platform, offering ample room for future expansions. Its modular architecture incorporates plug-in stepper drivers and extruder control electronics, simplifying service, part replacement, and upgrade processes. The design ensures high versatility, allowing for the addition of numerous Arduino expansion boards while maintaining the RAMPS board at the top of the stack.

This kit includes five DRV8825 stepper motor drivers, which are perfectly compatible with A4988 drivers but require careful orientation during assembly. These drivers are recommended for use with 12V or 24V power supplies, with 24V offering slightly higher maximum speeds. While 36V should generally be avoided due to component limits, the DRV8825 drivers can handle currents up to 2 Amperes under proper dissipation, ideally with heatsinks and active cooling from a fan. This combination provides a robust and precise solution for controlling your 3D printer’s stepper motors.
