Pro-Range CCJ-A12M-3ANA Capacitive Proximity Sensor - NPN Output, M12 Thread, 3mm Detection

This sensor is designed for non-contact detection of non-metallic objects and materials. It can reliably sense the presence of plastics, glass, liquids, powders, wood, and other dielectric materials. It is not intended for detecting metals; for that application, an inductive proximity sensor would be required.

The NPN output is an open-collector sinking output. Connect the brown wire (typically +V, 10-30V DC) to your positive supply, the blue wire to ground (0V), and the black wire to your PLC's digital input. The PLC input must be connected to the positive supply via a pull-up resistor (often internal). When the sensor detects an object, the NPN transistor sinks current, pulling the signal line low.

The integrated sensitivity potentiometer allows you to fine-tune the sensor's detection threshold. This is crucial for optimizing performance when detecting different material types, densities, or when installed behind thin non-metallic barriers (like a glass or plastic tank wall). Adjust it so the sensor reliably triggers on the target object without false triggering from the background.
