The HC-SR04 ultrasonic distance sensor operates on the principle of time-of-flight (ToF) measurement. It emits a 40 kHz ultrasonic pulse via its transmitter and listens for the echo with its receiver. The time delay between the transmitted pulse and the received echo is used to calculate the distance to an object, providing a non-contact measurement solution that is unaffected by ambient light or the color of the target material.
This module is designed for straightforward integration, requiring only a single I/O pin to trigger the measurement pulse and another to read the echo pulse width. Its performance is optimized for a wide range of applications, from simple obstacle detection to precise distance logging, supported by a compact and robust PCB construction.
