The DS18B20 waterproof probe utilizes a factory-calibrated digital temperature sensor chip sealed within a corrosion-resistant stainless steel tube. This construction provides an IP68-equivalent barrier against moisture and contaminants, making it ideal for submersion or use in wet conditions. The internal sealing glue and pin-level heat-shrink tubing ensure electrical isolation and long-term reliability.
Communication is handled via the 1-Wire protocol, which allows multiple sensors to be daisy-chained on a single digital pin, simplifying system design. The sensor outputs temperature data with user-selectable resolution from 9 to 12 bits and features a programmable alarm function for high/low temperature limits. A 4.7kΩ pull-up resistor between the DATA line and VCC is required for proper microcontroller interfacing.
