The DFRobot Mecanum Wheel utilizes a specialized roller arrangement to achieve holonomic drive. Each of the nine small rollers is angled at 45 degrees relative to the wheel’s axis, allowing lateral force vectors to be generated. When paired with a correctly oriented opposite wheel and driven by independent motors, this enables the robot chassis to move in any planar direction without changing wheel orientation.
