Description
The Colorduino is an Arduino-compatible RGB LED dot matrix driver board designed to simplify the control of vibrant LED displays. It ingeniously pairs an M54564 with a DM163 constant current driver, delivering advanced capabilities for displaying rich 8×8 RGB graphics.
A key feature of the Colorduino is its hardware-accelerated 16MHz PWM support across three 8+6-bit channels for each LED color. This dedicated hardware offloads the intensive task of LED control from the ATmega328 microcontroller, significantly increasing CPU bandwidth for other application logic. Developers can focus on creative visual effects and interactions without concerns about software PWM overhead.
For larger displays, the Colorduino supports easy cascading of multiple boards, all manageable via a single I2C bus. This modular design allows for the creation of extensive LED matrices, making it suitable for a wide range of visual projects, from simple indicators to complex graphical interfaces.
