The Y213 reed switch utilizes a pair of ferromagnetic reeds sealed within an inert gas-filled glass envelope. When an external magnetic field of sufficient strength is applied, the reeds are magnetically attracted, closing the electrical contact to complete a circuit. Upon removal of the magnetic field, the inherent spring tension of the reeds causes them to separate, opening the circuit. This magnetically actuated, non-contact switching principle offers high reliability and a long operational life with no mechanical wear.
Designed for durability, the hermetically sealed glass construction protects the internal contacts from oxidation, dust, and corrosion, making it suitable for use in demanding environmental conditions. Its compact 45mm total length and minimal power requirements facilitate easy integration into printed circuit boards (PCBs), control panels, and embedded systems for sensing and switching functions.
