The KSD302 is a bimetallic, snap-action thermal switch enclosed in a robust ceramic housing. It operates on a simple mechanical principle: a bimetallic disc deflects at its calibrated temperature (80°C), physically opening the normally closed electrical contacts to break the circuit. This provides fail-safe over-temperature protection without requiring external power or complex electronics.
Its ceramic body offers excellent electrical insulation and thermal stability, making it suitable for high-temperature environments and applications where electrical isolation is critical. The switch resets automatically once the temperature falls below its set point, restoring the circuit connection.
