Pro-Range CRJ-A12M-3ANA Capacitive Proximity Sensor, NPN Output, M12 Thread, 3mm Detection

This sensor has an NPN open-collector output. The brown wire is typically connected to the positive supply voltage (10-30V DC), the blue wire to the common negative (0V), and the black wire is the switching output. The black wire sinks current to ground when an object is detected, which should be connected to your PLC's digital input or controller.

Capacitive sensors like the CRJ-A12M-3ANA are designed to detect both metallic and, more commonly, non-metallic objects. They are particularly effective for sensing materials such as plastics, glass, liquids, wood, cardboard, and granular substances, making them ideal for packaging, food, and chemical applications.

The sensor includes a built-in sensitivity adjustment potentiometer. Use a small screwdriver to turn the potentiometer clockwise to increase the sensing distance or counter-clockwise to decrease it. Adjust until the sensor reliably detects the target material at the desired distance without false triggering from background objects.

The sensor operates on a standard 10-30V DC supply. It features built-in reverse polarity protection, safeguarding the sensor if the power wires are accidentally connected backwards, and output short-circuit protection to prevent damage if the output is inadvertently shorted.
