Description

The RS-LDO-N01-2-20 dissolved oxygen sensor operates on the fluorescence quenching principle. A fluorescent cap is excited by an internal LED, and the intensity and decay time of the returning fluorescence, which is inversely proportional to dissolved oxygen concentration, is measured. This method eliminates the need for membranes, electrolytes, or stirring, providing stable, maintenance-free operation.

The sensor incorporates a high-precision temperature probe for real-time automatic compensation, ensuring measurement accuracy is maintained across varying water conditions. Its wide 10-30V DC input and Modbus RTU protocol output make it compatible with industrial automation systems, environmental monitoring stations, and custom IoT platforms for remote data acquisition and control.

Key Features

  • Fluorescence-based optical sensing with a typical 1-year cap life under normal use.
  • Wide operating voltage range (DC 10-30V) for flexible system integration.
  • RS485 Modbus RTU output with user-configurable communication parameters.
  • IP68 waterproof rating and corrosion-resistant POM/stainless steel housing.
  • Built-in temperature sensor for automatic compensation, enhancing long-term stability.
  • Low power consumption (0.2W) suitable for solar-powered or battery-operated setups.
  • Fast response time (≤60 seconds to 90% of final value).
  • High resolution of 0.01 mg/L for detecting subtle oxygen concentration changes.

Applications

  • Wastewater treatment plant aeration basin and effluent monitoring.
  • Aquaculture and fish farm dissolved oxygen level control for stock health.
  • Environmental monitoring of rivers, lakes, and coastal waters.
  • Laboratory research and bioreactor process control.
  • Drinking water reservoir and distribution network quality assurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the power supply requirement for this dissolved oxygen sensor?

The sensor operates on a wide-range DC power supply of 10 to 30 volts. This flexibility allows it to be powered from standard 12V or 24V industrial power supplies, battery packs, or solar-charged systems, with a low power consumption of only 0.2 watts.

How do I communicate with and configure the sensor?

Communication is via a standard RS485 interface using the Modbus RTU protocol. You can connect it to a PLC, SCADA system, or data logger with an RS485 port. The Modbus slave address and communication baud rate are both user-configurable parameters for easy network integration.

Does the sensor require calibration or maintenance?

The fluorescence-based sensing element does not require frequent calibration like electrochemical sensors. However, periodic verification against a standard is recommended for critical applications. The fluorescent cap has a typical lifespan of one year under normal use and is a user-replaceable component.

Is this sensor suitable for saltwater or harsh chemical environments?

Yes, its IP68 rating ensures complete protection against continuous immersion in water. The housing combines corrosion-resistant stainless steel and chemical-resistant POM plastic, making it suitable for use in seawater, wastewater, and various industrial process liquids.

What is the default cable length, and can it be customized?

The sensor is supplied with a 5-meter integrated cable as standard. For specific installation needs requiring different lengths or connector types, customization options are typically available directly from the manufacturer or authorized distributors.
