Frequently Asked Questions

What is the power source for the PST-T8 lock and what is its battery life?

The PST-T8 is powered by 4 standard AAA (LR03) 1.5V alkaline batteries. Its optimized low-power design features a working current under 160mA during active use and a standby current below 80µA, which typically provides several months to a year of operation under normal residential usage patterns before battery replacement is needed.

Can I control this lock remotely when I am not at home?

Yes, remote control is a core feature. Via the Tuya Smart App over your home Wi-Fi network (through a compatible Tuya hub or your smartphone's Bluetooth connection when in range), you can lock/unlock the door, create and manage temporary access codes, and receive real-time notifications of lock activity from anywhere with an internet connection.

What types of doors is this lock compatible with for installation?

The PST-T8 is designed for easy installation on standard inward or outward opening residential doors. It is compatible with door thicknesses between 38mm and 50mm (approximately 1.5 to 2 inches). The package includes standard mounting hardware, but verifying your door's existing bore hole and latch measurements against the manual is recommended before installation.

How many fingerprints and user codes can the lock store?

While the exact capacity can vary, smart locks in this category typically support storing 50 to 100 unique fingerprints and multiple user-defined numeric passwords. For the precise storage capacity of the PST-T8 model, please refer to the official user manual or product specifications from PST.

Does the fingerprint sensor work with wet or lightly soiled fingers?

Yes, the PST-T8's capacitive fingerprint sensor incorporates an algorithm designed for tolerance, allowing it to recognize fingerprints even when they are slightly wet or damp. This improves reliability and access speed in everyday conditions compared to basic optical sensors.
