The GP2Y1014AU0F employs an optical scattering method, where an infrared emitting diode (IRED) and a phototransistor are arranged diagonally within its housing. Airborne particles passing through the detection area scatter light from the IRED, which is then measured by the phototransistor. This analog signal correlates directly to the mass concentration of suspended particles, providing a reliable metric for PM2.5 levels.
Engineered for low-power operation and long-term stability, the sensor is suitable for continuous monitoring in consumer and industrial environments. Its design allows for efficient detection with a single light pulse, minimizing power draw while maintaining responsiveness to changes in air quality. The module is RoHS compliant and constructed without hazardous substances, ensuring safety for use in air purifiers, HVAC systems, and portable air quality monitors.
