Description

The OpenMV Motor Shield is a dedicated expansion board engineered to simplify the integration of motion control into computer vision projects. It houses a robust TB6612FNG motor driver IC, capable of driving two brushed DC motors with a continuous current of up to 2A each. The board includes a dedicated 5V linear voltage regulator, allowing you to power both the OpenMV Cam and the motors from a single 2.7V to 5.5V DC power source, such as a LiPo battery, eliminating the need for multiple power supplies.

Control is managed via simple GPIO connections, with two direction pins and one PWM pin per motor, offering straightforward interfacing with the OpenMV Cam’s I/O. The driver IC provides efficient operation with low standby current and incorporates critical protection features including thermal overload shutdown and under-voltage lockout. This makes the shield a reliable and compact foundation for building autonomous robots, actuated camera platforms, and other interactive mechatronic systems.
