Description
The Cytron SKDS40A is a versatile Start Up Kit engineered to support Microchip Technology’s 40-pin dsPIC 16-bit microcontrollers, including models like dsPIC30F3011, 4011, 3014, and 4013. This kit provides a ready-to-use platform with core components necessary for immediate program execution, accelerating the development process for embedded applications. It omits the microcontroller itself, offering developers the flexibility to select their preferred dsPIC variant.
Key functionalities integrated into the SKDS40A include a simple and fast ICSP connector for program loading, two programmable switches for input, and two programmable LEDs for output indication. It also features a changeable crystal, defaulting to 10MHz, and a dedicated pad for a 16×2 character LCD display, enabling visual feedback. Furthermore, UART connectivity is provided, allowing seamless interface with other controllers or a host computer, making it a comprehensive platform for learning and developing with dsPIC devices.
To assist users, sample source code is supplied for basic functions such as LCD message display, LED control, switch reading, and UART communication. These samples are developed using the MPLAB C30 C Compiler, providing a solid foundation for further custom development and enabling users to quickly utilize the full functionality of the dsPIC microcontroller by integrating various I/O components.
