Description

The RAMPS 1.4 (RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield) is a compact, cost-effective solution designed to integrate all essential electronics for RepRap 3D printers. This modular shield seamlessly interfaces with the powerful Arduino Mega2560 platform, offering extensive expansion capabilities. Its design incorporates plug-in stepper drivers and extruder control electronics, facilitating easy service, component replacement, and future upgrades.

At its core, the Mega2560 microcontroller development board provides 54 digital I/O terminals (14 PWM outputs), 16 analog input pins, and four UARTs. Operating at 16 MHz, it allows direct program download via USB thanks to its integrated bootloader, eliminating the need for an external writer. Power can be supplied via USB or an external AC-to-DC adapter.

This kit includes five A4988 DMOS Micro-stepping Driver breakout boards by Pololu. These drivers enable precise control of one bipolar stepper motor at up to 2A output current per coil, making them ideal for controlling the X, Y, Z, and extruder axes of a 3D printer. Users should consult the A4988 datasheet for detailed operational guidelines.
