Generic KSD9700/BK05-BB1D Metallic Shell Temperature Control Switch - 40°C NC, 5A 250V
The KSD9700/BK05-BB1D is a metallic shell, snap-action thermal switch designed to protect electrical circuits and components from overheating. It features a normally closed (NC) contact that opens at a precise 40°C setpoint, rated for 5A at 250V AC/DC, making it suitable for integration into appliances, power supplies, and industrial control systems.
Features
- Metallic shell construction for robust thermal conduction and durability.
- Precise 40°C (±3°C typical) normally closed (NC) snap-action bimetallic switch.
- Rated for 5A current at 250V AC or DC, suitable for controlling small motors, heaters, and transformers.
- Compact form factor with 7cm lead wires for easy installation in confined spaces.
- Reliable over-temperature protection for appliances, power tools, battery packs, and lighting fixtures.

The KSD9700/BK05-BB1D is a bimetallic disc thermostat housed in a metallic shell for optimal heat transfer and mechanical strength. Its operation is based on the differential thermal expansion of two bonded metals, which causes a snap-action mechanism to abruptly open the normally closed electrical contacts once the calibrated temperature threshold of 40°C is reached. This action breaks the circuit, providing fail-safe protection.
Designed for direct series connection in the load circuit, this switch automatically resets once the ambient temperature cools below its reset point (typically a few degrees below the setpoint). Its 5A/250V rating makes it a cost-effective and reliable solution for preventing thermal runaway in a wide range of consumer electronics, small appliances, and industrial equipment where space and budget are constraints.
