The HS-S37A Water Depth Sensor operates on the principle of variable resistance. Multiple exposed parallel copper traces on its probe form a conductive path; as water submerges more traces, the electrical resistance between them decreases. This change in resistance is converted into a proportional analog voltage signal, which is output via the signal pin for direct reading by an ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) on a microcontroller.
Designed for reliability, the sensor features a stainless steel housing for corrosion resistance in aqueous environments. Its fast response time enables real-time monitoring of liquid levels in tanks, reservoirs, or for leak detection. The straightforward interface and provided code libraries make it suitable for educational projects, DIY automation, and basic industrial monitoring systems.
