Description

The Raspberry Pi, while powerful, often lacks the precision and number of PWM outputs required for complex servo control applications, potentially leading to jittering servos. The Waveshare Servo Driver HAT (B) directly addresses this limitation by providing a dedicated solution for driving up to 16 servos. It integrates a PCA9685 driver to deliver 12-bit resolution PWM signals, enabling smooth and accurate control essential for robotic arms, hexapod walkers, and other projects demanding precise motion.

Designed as a standard HAT, it connects directly to the Raspberry Pi’s 40PIN GPIO header and communicates via I2C, utilizing only two pins. This efficient design leaves other GPIOs free for additional peripherals. The HAT features an integrated 5V regulator with up to 3A output current, allowing it to be powered directly from a 6-12V battery through the VIN terminal, thereby alleviating power demands on the Pi itself. It supports common servos like SG90, MG90S, and MG996R, and provides reserved I2C control pins for straightforward integration with other control boards or modules.
