The ARPI600 is a specialized expansion board designed to bridge the functional gap between Raspberry Pi and Arduino ecosystems. By remapping the Raspberry Pi’s 40-PIN GPIO header to the widely adopted Arduino pinout, it enables developers and makers to utilize a vast array of existing Arduino shields with their Raspberry Pi, expanding hardware and software possibilities significantly. This integration offers a powerful platform for complex projects requiring the processing power of the Raspberry Pi alongside the diverse peripheral support of Arduino.
Beyond Arduino compatibility, the ARPI600 enhances connectivity and sensing capabilities. It features an onboard XBee connector, facilitating easy integration of XBee modules for various wireless communication protocols like Zigbee or 802.15.4. For data acquisition, a 10-bit TLC1543 ADC is included, offering 11 channels for sensor input. The board also incorporates a CP2102 USB-to-UART converter for convenient serial debugging, which can also be configured to act as an XBee USB adapter. An onboard PCF8563 RTC, complete with a battery holder, ensures reliable timekeeping for data logging and scheduling applications, even when the primary power source is removed. Multiple jumpers allow for flexible configuration of UART, ADC, I2C, and SPI interfaces.
